At the heart of the partnership was the centennial celebration film, a powerful visual statement designed to distil a hundred years of triumph, resilience, and cultural impact into a single, emotionally charged moment. Alongside this, NOMINT crafted the title sequence for Always an Original, the Blackhawks’ documentary series, translating the team’s ethos into a graphic language that set the tone for the stories that followed.
Seen by fans worldwide, the work, crafted by NOMINT director Ariel Costa, became a defining expression of the Blackhawks’ centennial year, connecting past, present, and future through carefully considered design and storytelling. The collaboration stands as proof that world-class craft can honour heritage while pushing identity forward, creating cultural moments that feel both timeless and unmistakably original.

For the Chicago Blackhawks’ 100th anniversary, NOMINT director Ariel Costa crafted a centennial celebration film built around an original poem written by NOMINT. Conceived as a visual poem in motion, the film moves beyond a traditional historical tribute, translating a century of grit, originality, and cultural impact into an expressive, cinematic experience.
Through mixed-media animation and collage-inspired sequences, the film pairs poetic language with bold imagery, layered textures, surreal transitions, and rhythmic pacing—to embody the intensity and spirit of a team that has always stood apart. By uniting authored words and handcrafted visuals, the piece reframes the Blackhawks’ legacy as something alive and immediate, launching the Always an Original campaign and setting the tone for a season-long centennial celebration that honours the past while looking decisively toward the future.
